UNOde50: unique handcrafted jewellery for unique people

UNOde50 is a brand founded toward the end of the ‘90s in Spain which offers handcrafted jewellery characterized by a unique style and the “purest” creativity. UNOde50 designers look for and follow an unexplored path to create pieces with an exclusive design to allow customers to express their personality. These pieces of jewellery are handcrafted using leather and alloy shaping those materials like everyday objects and shapes in nature.

The handcrafting process

The designers begin the creative process starting from a theme that will inspire all pieces of jewellery. After finding the theme, they start drawing the first sketches to identify which materials will be used for the jewellery. UNOde50 jewellery is hancrafted from alloy, leather and other materials such as crystal and pearls,

The designers start working from a specific type of wax until achieving the most similar shape, then a mold is created. Inside the mold the metal alloy and a hallmark of UNOde50 will be later poured inside. The piece obtained following these steps continues to be worked to shape the metal like in the first sketches.

After being shaped, the piece undergoes a hypoallergenic process, 15-micron silver coating, and various quality controls. Finally, if the piece is combined with other materials, all elements are then put together.

The heart symbolizes love, an emotion that can make you feel both happy and hard feelings. The hard parts of love and relationship are represented by the nail while the beautiful ones are represented by the warm and organic shapes of the heart. These two elements are combined harmoniously in the shape of the heart which speaks about relationships, experiences and emotions.

José Azulay, UNOde50’s Creative Director, gives his own interpretation of the nail by taking its most romantic meaning and sometimes combining it with the heart to represent each part of a relationship.

"Ideas arise spontaneously and then take shape, take on a body and, in my case, adapt to the body"- José Azulay expressed this idea while discussing the key icon. The padlock doesn’t only represent the brand’s approach but also the protection for each piece of jewellery, the padlock guards each piece of treasure made by UNOde50.

The dragonfly represents the free spirit, curiosity and the will to break free from our shackles and leave our insecurities behind. This symbol invites us to fly without any worries, free from any kind of burden or prejudices. The needle and button symbolize forgiveness, seen as a process to heal wounds by sewing them.
